The Network Discovery option displays which hostnames and IP addresses entered under the Include section of the Hostname / IP Address Range tab (Scans > Scans List > Settings tab> Hostname / IP Address Range tab) are live before the scan is run. This allows you to know which hostnames or IP addresses you should scan without consuming your license. You can export this information as a CVS file, if needed.

When you provide a range of IP addresses in the Include section (for example, 192.168.1.1-100). discovery happens automatically.

To run Network Discovery manually, do the following:

  1. Select Scans > Scans List > Settings tab > Other tab.
  2. Under the Network Discovery section of the Scan Details - External Hosts page, select Perform Discovery.  You can now decide which hostnames and/or IP addresses to insert into your scan range and run.
  3. After you select Perform Discovery, go back to the Other tab and select Export to download these hostnames/IP addresses in a CVS file.
